Deer Creek Watershed Conservancy
Current Projects
DCWC focuses on projects that promote habitat for native species, protect land use and enhance that ecological and economical stability of the watershed. Our landowners are among the most proactive in the state; they are constantly engaging in programs that collaborate with resources managers from state and federal agencies, as well as private consultants to better their operations and provide system wide benefits. Specific areas we are currently focusing on include flood protection, water conservation, improving conditions for migrating salmon and steelhead. Listed below are a few of these projects in more detail.

Flood Control Project

After expansive flooding in 1997/1998 DCWC sat down with experts from across the country to develop an improved flood management plan. The overall goal was to provide increased flood protection to local landowners while improving instream conditions for native salmonids, and received remarkable support from both local landowners and the environmental community. Funding has waxed and waned but the last year a preferred alternative was approved by the board. A segment of the proposed actions has been submitted for funding through the Flood Protection Corridor Program.
Check back soon as we are working on adding a link to the project and will be posting funding news as it becomes available.
